El Taller
El Taller de Arquitectura is a group of architects working out of La Fábrica, its members arriving from all over the world. The group's projects vary widely, each shaped by the specific conditions of its setting rather than by a single method or style. What connects the work is a steady focus on craft and a readiness to draw from other disciplines. This comes through in the details and in the spirit with which new ideas are taken up.
The name Taller (pronounced ta-yer) translates to “workshop” and holds a dual meaning. The first is the workshop as a place of making. This is evident in the very spaces of La Fábrica, where models and project materials are crafted; in the group’s sustained collaboration with local builders, artisans, and vernacular traditions; and in the integration of these practices into buildings made for contemporary use.
The second meaning is the workshop as a forum for focused inquiry. This process varies with each project: depending on the specific social and historical context, a team is assembled from within the wider cohort to address the questions at hand. The team comprises countless different nationalities and backgrounds, bringing a wide range of perspectives in its own right, while collaborators from the arts, sciences, and other fields are regularly invited to contribute.

An engagement with the wider discourse around architecture has expanded the Taller’s activities into adjacent cultural spheres. These include fashion design, graphic communication, editions of objects and furniture, and the production of publications and exhibitions, many of which draw on the archive the group has built over more than sixty years.
It was in 1963 that Ricardo Bofill established the Taller de Arquitectura, uniting engineers, sociologists, economists, mathematicians, philosophers, filmmakers, writers, and others who saw architecture as a means to affect society. Studying the ideas and conditions of previous generations was (and remains) essential to that aim. This dialectic, looking backwards while moving forwards, applies as much to the group’s own history as to its outlook today.

CEO
Pablo Bofill
Pablo’s approach at the Taller de Arquitectura balances a respect for its history with an openness to new ideas. As the group has expanded in recent years, it has also returned to a structure more in line with its original emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative design. In building the team, Pablo values personal insight alongside professional experience, encouraging diverse contributions across projects. His ongoing focus on craftsmanship helps ensure that quality remains integral to the work.
Partners
Hernán Cortés
Hernán plays a central role in the design of projects at the Taller, with particular attention to tectonic detail and materiality across different phases and scales. Trained as an architect in Barcelona and raised between the building trades and the arts, he brings a balance of practical knowledge and conceptual focus to his work. He began his career in South America and, since joining the Taller in 2012, has led projects in Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Albania, Saudi Arabia, and elsewhere. Hernán also works with the archive to support continuity as the group develops, and takes part in its broader cultural efforts, collaborating with artists, designers, and artisans – including some connected to his family's history – to help maintain a diverse creative network.
Dimitri Davoise
Since joining the Taller in 2010, Dimitri has contributed a holistic and collaborative approach to the practice. He works to shape architecture that responds thoughtfully to its physical and cultural context, engaging closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and consultants throughout each phase of a project. This approach extends from early concepts to construction, and from broad planning strategies to detailed design, all within a supportive environment for colleagues at every level of their careers. Educated and trained as an architect in Paris and later in London, Dimitri has worked on projects in France, Spain, Morocco, the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, and beyond, across cultural, educational, residential, and workplace sectors.
